故事的開始於一架迫降之後飛機，機上所有人都死於一種神秘的病毒，於是FBI以及各方調查組介入調查。但這只是故事的開始，接下來FBI的女特工奧利弗 德納姆（Olivia Dunham）和高智商天才彼得-畢舍普（Peter Bishop）將攜手面對一系列匪夷所思的可怕現象。為了阻止危機的進一步擴展，他們將尋求彼得早已疏遠的父親的幫助。而他的父親沃特-畢舍普博士（Dr. Walter Bishop）則一直被精神病院所收留。出院之後，三個人組成的調查小組開始對各種離奇事件進行研究。

巨能這么NB的公司，那麼多不可思議的科技都搞出來了，搞個有指紋的假手應該沒問題，至於為什麼只有夏普女士有她自己的指紋，我估計上去那個假肢是機械生物合成的，生物部分是夏普女士的DNA基因組合成細胞後培養出來的皮膚組織吧。按照該理論,人的指紋在胎兒7個月時就已經定型並終身不變。那麼就是在培養整個手指皮膚細胞及各類組織的時候就自然形成了吧，也是獨一無二的，巨能給夏普做的假肢意義上就是要與真的手一模一樣，反正劇情里推論他們絕對是有這個能力的（畢竟比爾都能去平行世界玩了。）
